How It Works

No, you don’t need hardware! With FastPBX technology you can use your Computer or Mobile Device Instead of a Phone. This normally requires that you download an application, called a softphone or a desktop client. You can also choose the nomad plan that offers a virtual phone system that can forward calls to your mobile.

International calling is free if the person you are calling is also connected with FastPBX. If the person you are calling is not connected with FastPBX, our competitive international rates are by the minute depending on the country.

Analog telephone service is provided at a fixed address and can't be moved, think about being at a location and needing to pay someone to remove your installed equipment. Additional services usually cost extra such as Voicemail and long-distance calls are costly because additional facilities are used. You need to use onsite hosted solution that needs to be installed by an IT company or sub-contractor and that will incur heavy costs.

VoIP telephone service can be accessed through any Internet connection and it has no fixed location. This means the service can assign any area code to any customer, regardless of location and you can move your phone system around different locations without having to re-program your phones.

Customers can request area codes so that clients and staff can dial their number from conventional phones without incurring long-distance charges. Long-distance calls dialed from VoIP phones are inexpensive because there are no additional charges for distance over the Internet. Additional services are free or inexpensive because they are software-based.

Picking out a new custom phone number is simple as pie. This is done during the registration process where you will be asked to choose as many numbers as you need. If you have a hard time committing to a number, you can add new ones or remove existing ones at any time.

FastPBX can work with any mobile device in a variety of ways. With Failover to Mobile, FastPBX can ensure you never miss a call by forwarding them to any mobile device.

Service

When placing a call with voice over IP (VoIP), the voice is broken into thousands of packets. These packets move quickly through numerous routes on the Internet to FastPBX, and then to their final end point, where they are reassembled. Many factors can affect packets through this routes, and therefore affecting the quality of the call.

Most common factors: Latency, Jitter and Packet Loss

Latency is the time it takes a voice packet to reach its destination and it is measured in milliseconds (ms)—thousandths of a second. Latency of 150ms is barely noticeable and generally acceptable. Latency higher than 150ms adversely affects VoIP calls, while latency higher than 300ms is generally unacceptable.

Jitter measures the variation in the arrival time of those individual packets making their way along various routes over the Internet. Jitter can be caused by Internet congestion, timing drift, or Internet route changes. Jitter is measured in milliseconds (ms)—thousandths of a second. Jitter greater than 50ms can result in packet loss and degraded voice quality Packet Loss: Packets are sent over the Internet and reassembled at their destination.

Packet loss occurs when some packets are dropped by congested network routers or switches, or discarded by the jitter buffer. If you miss one out of every 10 words, or 10 words all at once, chances are you won’t understand the conversation.

FastPBX provides you with dependable, HD quality voice service. Your local network, Internet connection, and router devices all contribute to your overall call quality. To help you manage your calls, our support team is equipped with the tools to check your Internet connection speed, and instructions to configure the Quality of Service (QoS) settings of your routers.

Scalability – Having your phone lines managed through our cloud phone service leaves room for your company to grow. There are unlimited amounts of number and extensions, which are easily added with the click of a button through your user dashboard. Traditional phone lines are limited to the number of phone jacks that are available in your office. Advanced Features – With cloud phone service, you get the software that comes along with it. This software simplifies the way your business communicates.

Hardware

We offer the capability for you to connect an existing cordless device or a new cordless device which are usually analog phone lines to an ATA adapter. The adapter converts analog to VoIP and you will have the same features on the cordless phone that you would on any VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phone.
You won’t be needing it. VoIP services generally offer virtual fax functionality. Faxes can be sent and received with your email, without requiring a separate phone line, and they’re delivered directly to your email inbox.
